North Era Model

This is a render I did using the program VUE, let me know if anything doesnt look right, its the best I could do considering I only had a few days to learn it.

Unfortunately I cant export the scene to be used in rhino (land with water, trees etc). I can only export the land which I have done and put in the dropbox as a rhino file. The land in the background is what I had to put in as a backdrop otherwise it would have been all water. Thanks to Oli who provided me with the contours to make the land take shape (if you want my vue file Oli let me know). If there are any problems let me know. PS: if you want the land to be look smoother in the rhino model let me know and I can do it in vue and export it.

Cheers

Water Catchment

A project done by H3AR. This a water catchment in Sudan.

A general calculation for water:

- total amount of water that is received in the form of rain water over an area is called
rainwater endowment – water harvesting potenital
water harvesting potential = rainfall(mm) x Collection Efficiency
Rainwater_ area x height of rainfall

Crit on tuesday

As most of you are so confident that your work is going very well that you can miss two classes in a row, here’s an opportunity to show it off. We’ll have a full blown crit in Tuesday’s class.
I’m suspicious that any of you are ready, and I’d like to be proven wrong.

Don’t print at 2A0, just print at A1 (50%), and bring the new story board for how your video will be modified to meet the 6 minute time availability.

…see you next tuesday

Emerging final mark breakdown

This will get richer over the next few days, but only in its details, nothing that is there now will change.
Have a good think about where the marks are coming from and target your time appropriately.

Updated Master Energy Consumption Grasshopper

Nasser, Daniel, Evan and I, we came up with a overall energy data that is required in a daily life.

Please note: every unit has been slid assuming the item is used 24 hours. There is a kw range for each of the item (for the final result, we adjusted into its max range).

Also, each item is only one unit.

Nonetheless, this is a good start, in which everyone can build upon, depending on your site + relating it to your scenario.

Best of luck
Alan

Double Checking Numbers Late at Night.

Hey guys,

I’m just crunching some figures in regards to the amount of space required for vegetables and fruits if one was to only survive on this yearly. Love it if you could give me some feedback as to whether i’m crazy or it sounds legit.

So take broccoli for example. Let’s say:

Everybody consumes 100g of broccoli everyday.

One broccoli plant produces 700g per harvest.

Therefore 1/7 of a broccoli plant = 1 days worth of broccoli consumption.

365/7 of a broccoli plant = a years worth of broccoli consumption regardless of harvest time.

so, everybody eats 52 plants every year.

Harvest period is 100 days.

Therefore 365/100 = amount of harvests a year.

= 3.65. That means each plant area will have 3.65 plants a year.

so 52/3.65 = individual planting areas required.

= 14

Broccoli crop size is about 0.09m sq.

14 x 0.09m sq = total amount of space required per person to have 100g of broccoli daily.

Make sense?

HELP…. it’s late.

Marking time

Data entry is done, there are a couple of bugs to iron out due to people using the wrong form (that gives you massive marks like 180% and that kind of thing) but there’s going to be some pretty interesting data analysis that I can do this block of numbers!
